Interclub RULES

1) GOVERNING RULES

CCA rules will be in effect. Rule books are available from SACA and most curling clubs.
NOTE: CYCA has adopted the 4-rock rule.

2) GAME START AND END TIMES

Ice times are booked for a two hour period. The goal is to get in 8 ends within the 2 hour time limit.

Calgary Winter Club
9:30am - 11:30am
12:00pm - 2:00pm
Acadia Rec Complex
12:30 pm - 2:30 pm
2:45pm - 4:45pm

3) LATE TEAMS

If a team is late for a game, the opposition will be awarded one point and one end for each ten minutes late to a maximum of thirty minutes. After that, the game is defaulted by the team not in attendance.

4) ROUND ROBIN

In each new round, teams start at zero points.

  • 3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie.
  • At the end of rounds 1 & 2, teams will be re-shuffled according to their record.  At the end of round 3, team standings are a total of win and tie points of round 3 only.  If more teams join the League in Round 2 or 3 a D Division will be created.
  • Tie games will finish with one draw to the button from each team.
  • Rock to be thrown by any team member that was on the ice for the entire game.
  • Rock resting closest to the "pin" shall declare the tie break to that team.
  • If teams are tied in the division at the end of the round, the above draw to the button from the head to head game will be the tie breaker.
  • This must be specified by the team giving the results to the scorekeeper, EG.  "Team A 4 points & Team B 4 points tied - draw to the button won by Team B"

5) CANCELLED GAMES

The procedure to follow if a team requests the cancellation/postponement of a game:

a) Contact the opposing team.
b) Contact the Drawmaster/Scorekeeper (mckbrown@telus.net) by the end of WEDNESDAY prior to the scheduled Sunday game. This is to ensure the ice is cancelled so the makeup game can be played and ice is paid for by CYCA. If the team requesting the cancellation/postponement does not notify the Drawmaster/Scorekeeper, the team will forfeit the game and game will not be made up.
c) In case of a tie, both teams must notify the Drawmaster/Scorekeeper.

Neither Team can play: If a game is cancelled because neither team could play that Sunday as scheduled and the game is not played at some other mutually agreeable time, then both teams will be awarded the tie points. It does not matter which team made the first call to inform the other team that they cannot play.

If a game is cancelled by notifying the opposition and the Drawmaster/Scorekeeper by the end of Wednesday prior to the scheduled Sunday and the game is not played, the canceling team will be awarded tie points and the other team will be awarded win points.

6) MAKE-UP GAMES

Games not played at the schedule time must be made up by the date stipulated by the Drawmaster/Scorekeeper. In most cases this will be the Tuesday prior to the start of the next round. It is the responsibility of the canceling team to re-schedule a make-up game at a time and place agreeable to the opposing team. The CYCA will pay for the ice directly to the club used.

7) SCORES

DESIGNATE SOMEONE on your TEAM (can be a parent) to contact the Drawmaster/Scorekeeper the results of the game or make-up game within 48 hours of the game played. Please provide the following information:

Name of Club played
Division, Winning Team, Opponent and score

(ie. CWC - Division A - Team A (5) vs. Team B (3))

NOTE: IF THE DRAWMASTER/SCOREKEEPER DOES NOT RECEIVE
THE SCORE WITHIN 48 HOURS OF THE GAME PLAYED, THE
WINNING TEAM WILL RECEIVE 0 POINTS.

8) TIMEOUTS

2 x 60 second timeouts are permitted by each team, 4th end 2 minute break

9) SUBSTITUTION RULES

A team must have at least two regular team members. Substitutes can be from any division in the league or from outside the league but must meet the age restrictions (20 years and under - as of December 31, 2006). If using one substitute, the substitute must play lead; two substitutes must play lead and second.

10) ETIQUETTE

Players are to stand still in the house when the rocks are being delivered and the opposing sweepers should be inconspicuous at the sides between the hog lines.

11) BURNED ROCKS

Burned rocks are to be allowed to come to rest and then the non-offending team will decide whether or not to take corrective action.
